The City of Grant maintains a community-wide solid waste hauling contract with Republic Services, that is designed to provide residents with reliable service at a competitive cost. By bundling service through a single municipal agreement, the City is able to secure a group rate for the community, helping keep monthly costs more affordable and predictable than individual accounts. The City also provides oversight and accountability through the contract. Any proposed rate adjustments are reviewed and negotiated by the City to ensure that increases are justified, transparent, and kept to a minimum. This approach helps protect residents from abrupt or excessive changes. In addition to cost stability, a city-wide contract delivers important neighborhood and infrastructure benefits. With a primary hauler serving the community, overall truck traffic on residential streets is reduced compared to having multiple waste companies operating separate routes. Fewer heavy vehicles on local roads means quieter neighborhoods, improved safety for pedestrians and drivers, and less disruption during collection hours. It also reduces wear and deterioration on pavement; helping extend the life of local streets, lowering long-term maintenance needs. The contract applies only to residents within the City of Grant incorporated limits. It does not extend to properties located in neighboring townships, which are not covered under the agreement and may have different service providers and rate structures. Republic Services can be contacted at 877-698-7274. Weekly trash collection occurs on Tuesday mornings. Customers may also select to have curbside recycling service. Recycling carts are collected once per month, on the first Tuesday of the month.

To avoid missing collection, please put your cart out the night before the scheduled pick-up. For customers who do not want cart service, individual bags are avaiable for purchase at the City Offices. Costs for services negoiated through the city contract can be found on the Fee Schedule.
