Trash Service Options in City of Grant
The Grant City Commission recently reviewed proposals from local trash haulers, and decided to renew the contract with A-Waste, Inc. in Ashland Township. The contract was set to expire at the end of the 2011 calendar year to provide residential trash service to the entire City. The provision of this service to the City by one single company benefits the City and it's property owners in a number of ways. First and foremost, it allows the City to negotiate a set price for trash services to be applied uniformly to our residents and business owners, depending on the specific service requested by each customer. Additionally, the wear and tear savings on our streets by eliminating the unnecessary refuse haulers from the roadways will help cut down on costly street repairs and bothersome potholes, and the elimination of multiple loud trash pickups throughout the week will certainly add to our residents' quality of life.
Effective October 1, 2006 A-Waste, Inc. is the only residential refuse hauler authorized to operate within the City limits. Accordingly, we are asking our residents to voluntarily make arrangements with A-Waste to begin service. Please contact A-Waste at (231) 834-9913 to make the necessary arrangements. The negotiated rates are listed below. If you have any questions about the services, please contact A-Waste directly. Please be aware that liquids (milk, water, juice, etc) left inside original containers leak out onto the road when trash cans are emptied and compacted. Please be neighborly and completely empty these types of containers before throwing them in the garbage! Certain items fall under the category of Household Hazardous Waste and cannot be thrown in the garbage. Contact Newaygo County to obtain information on their Household Hazardous Waste disposal program, typically scheduled for one day in early June annually by appointment.
