Refuse/Recycling Service Options in City of Grant

The City of Grant has a 5 year solid waste hauling contract with A-Waste (through December 31, 2016), located at 9672 S. Colonial Dr, Grant, MI 49327.  This contract is for residential service only. Local Ordinance #50, Solid Waste Ordinance regulates the residential service and brush pick up conducted by the City of Grant DPW.

Benefits of the single hauler contract:

*The single hauler contract allows for the City to better negotiate low rates for residents through the economy of scale.
*Eliminates truck noise in residential areas on multiple days of the week (only one day under the contract).
*Saves tax dollars on wear and tear of residential local streets that are not built for heavy truck traffic.
*Reduces heavy truck traffic in residential neighborhoods.

Please be aware that liquids (milk, water, juice, etc) left inside original containers leak out onto the road when trash cans are emptied and compacted.  Please be neighborly and completely empty these types of containers before throwing them in the garbage!  Certain items fall under the category of Household Hazardous Waste and cannot be thrown in the garbage.  Contact Newaygo County to obtain information on their Household Hazardous Waste disposal program, typically scheduled for one day in early June annually by appointment.
