Are you a City resident interested in serving as an Election Inspector? There are training requirements involved, and they are held during normal business hours. If you are interested and available, please click here for an Election Inspector Application. We will be offering training for new inspectors next spring before the May 2010 School Election.

Click here to e-mail a request to be placed on our Permanent Absent Voter List
Please note that a Court of Appeals Opinion no longers allows local clerks to mail out absent voter ballot applications not requested by the voter. We anticipate further legislation may place time limitations on the permanent AV list, but will certainly keep you informed if/when this occurs.

Newaygo County Results from Election Magic

County Clerk's Office
Michigan Department of State

August 3, 2010 Primary Election
Voter turnout at the close of polls was at 29.44% at 8:00pm for City of Grant Precinct #6, which is equal to 164 voters !  We had very few problems throughout the election, and the couple we did have were more related to candidates and the competition than anything else.  The high humidity levels caused some ballots to jam (mostly absent voter ballots), but they were all eventually processed without any further problems.  We always keep our ballots in a climate controlled environment to prevent the problem from getting any worse, but all of the absent voter ballots that left the office seemed to swell from the humidity and took a little extra time to run through the tabulator.  Statewide results are available through a link to the Secretary of State's website on our Elections page.

May 4, 2010 School Election Results
Voter turnout was 6.56% for City of Grant Precinct #6, which is equal to 41 voters.  Both the Grant Public Schools and NCRESA millage renewals passed overwhelmingly, and both candidates were re-elected as they were running unopposed.  Write-in votes are not tabulated unless the candidate files the necessary paperwork by the required deadline.  We were told that no candidates filed as a valid write-in candidate.
