6th Annual Grant Frontier Festival
The Grant Area Chamber of Commerce Board is already planning for the 6th annual Frontier Festival, which will be held on Friday, August 21 and Saturday, August 22,2009. The Chamber of Commerce will begin posting numerous Festival entry forms and flyers on their website as they become available at www.grantareachamber.com !
2009 City-Wide Yard Sales
This year's event will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2009. Currently, there are no plans to do any advertising among different newspapers as members of the community used to do a decade ago. They used to charge fifty cents ($.50) per yard sale, and the funds were used to reimburse the person(s) handling all of the advertising. If anyone is interested in starting this up again, please contact us with your ideas and to obtain more information. Anyone interested in setting up to sell along M-37 is required to obtain a permit from MDOT in advance, and there is a hefty annual cost involved. Most people decide to find a grassy area along Front Street and around the Community Center, but they typically fill up quickly with individuals selling their goods, so plan to come early to get a good spot! Please call Rite-Aid at 834-5744 to obtain permission if interested in setting up on their property every year. Blanche Lake Park is another wonderful location, and we are looking into allowing individuals to set up additional yard sales for this one day event this year. There could be a small fee involved, so check back in a few months for a decision. We hope the new, modern restroom facility will bring more people back to this beautiful park for a variety of uses either way. Regardless where you decide (and get permission if needed) to set up your yard sale, just remember to take everything you brought with you when you leave so that you do not receive a ticket.
