Business Holiday Decorating Contest
As a fun and festive fundraising event to help purchase holiday themed banners for the new L.E.D. streetlights in the downtown, the Chamber of Commerce sponsored a Holiday Decorating Contest among its members. Essentially, guests were encouraged to vote for their favorite decorated member business by casting their "vote" with spare change. The contest ran from December 1 - January 7, and the business collecting the most spare change won the contest! Congratulations to Sharla Schipper - State Farm Insurance for winning the first annual Holiday Decorating Contest. The $322 raised will be used by the Chamber to purchase new holiday decorations for the new streetlight poles in downtown Grant.

Grant Community Christmas Party & Santa Express 2011 Santa Claus and his helper Elves visited Grant on Saturday, December 10, 2011. They arrived on the Marquette Rail Santa Express, greeted children and posed for a few pictures, then Santa was escorted to the Grant Community Center to meet all of the children. We estimate that over 400 visitors came out to see Santa at the Community Center, and many more were waiting as he arrived aboard the Santa Express. The Chamber of Commerce provided a free picture with Santa for each child, and this year they were printed on-site and available for pick-up after a 10-15 minute wait. For more information about the Annual Grant Community Christmas Party or other Chamber of Commerce events, visit www.grantareachamber.com .
City-Wide Yard Sales The date for the annual city-wide yard sales was Saturday, September 10, 2011. When planning for a yard sale, please just use common sense. Please keep any signs on the inside of the sidewalk, and only with written permission of the property owner. Be sure not to leave anything behind after a sale to avoid a costly ordinance violation.
